Relay is our compact, single-hall Arizona data center study: a restrained charcoal-metal envelope paired with a warm sand-concrete entrance block and a precise, shaded arrival canopy. Rather than borrowing the reception of a much larger campus, the interior is deliberately human-scaled—a concise visitor check-in, a small operations studio and a protected team break terrace. Screened service areas and an orderly computing-hall organization complete the architectural concept. The design explores how a smaller facility could communicate precision and purpose without losing the everyday experience of the people who operate it. This is an independent full-design proposal intended for a SpaceX conversation, not an announced or commissioned development.

Independent Arizona Design Proposal
KOLD’s November 5, 2026 report describes a SpaceX-hosted community meeting about a proposed data center near the Apache Generating Station. County application SU26-22 identifies Tombstone Resources L.L.C. as the applicant. The county lists an approximately 747-acre proposal with up to nine computing buildings, subject to review—not an approved development.
Relay, Meridian and Horizon are TSD’s original alternative scale studies. They are not three announced SpaceX projects, a reproduction of the filed site plan, or a commissioned design package.
Our proposed role connects the campus identity, arrival sequence, interiors, materials and landscape into one coordinated design vision. The operations team’s everyday experience matters as much as the first impression: clear wayfinding, practical support spaces and a workplace shaped around the scale of the facility.
Development would require a site-specific brief and qualified architecture-of-record, engineering and specialist teams. Power, cooling, water demand, acoustics, ecological impacts, security and permitting must be studied and validated. Illustrative equipment and layouts do not establish technical performance or regulatory compliance.
